The following is a list of the type of volunteers needed throughout the hospital.
Musicians
We are looking for volunteer musicians to play for our patients and family members. Musicians must supply their own instrument(s).
Family Surgical and Intensive Care Waiting Rooms
Provide patient status, health and wellness information and offer emotional support to families while their loved ones are in surgery or intensive care.
The Health Learning Center
Assist in providing health and illness information to patients, families, staff, and the public at the main Health Learning Center or one of our satellites. Good people skills, computer and internet research skills and the ability to commit to one four-hour shift per week is required.
Mended Hearts Support Group
Volunteerswho have heart disease visit and provide encouragement to heart disease patients and caregivers in the hospital.
Hidden Treasures
Assist with staffing the hospital's upscale Resale Shop at 46 East Chicago Ave.
Palliative Care and Home Hospice
Volunteers visit with terminally ill patients. Training is required.
Information Desk/Lobby Services
Trained volunteers assist the customer service officers in staffing the main information desks.
Emergency Department
Assist patients, families, visitors and staff in the waiting room and the treatment area of the Emergency Department.
Gift Shops (Feinberg, Galter and Prentice)
Volunteers provide a significant service working in all three gift shops.
Bedside Bingo
This popular diversion for inpatients is provided on closed circuit television twice a week.
Pastoral Care Services
Community pastors and students in the graduate Clinical Pastoral Education program provide spiritual care to patients and their families.
Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Center
Serve in a variety of roles in the center from clerical/receptionist positions to Reach to Recovery support programs.
Fun Med
Offer a variety of entertaining pastimes to patients including audio books, board games, cards, etc.
